Thoma Bravo acquires LANDesk Software

Private equity investment firm, Thoma Bravo inked a definitive deal to acquire Utah -based end point security company LANDesk Software from Emerson Electric for an undisclosed amount. The deal slated to be closed by the end of September, will result in  LANDesk breaking away from the St. Louis- based manufacturing and technology company Emerson. With this go-it- alone move, LANDesk is poised to accelerate its revenue growth and bolster its stronghold in delivering end point security, lifecycle management and simple management of desktops, servers and mobile devices across the full spectrum of an organization’s IT environment.

Steve Daly, the executive vice president and general manager of LANDesk at the time of the acquisition will become the CEO of LANDesk.

“The backing by Thoma Bravo will create a very clear and focused opportunity for LANDesk employees, customers and business partners,” commented Steve Daly.  “LANDesk customers will benefit from our singular dedication to innovating throughout our key solutions – systems lifecycle management, endpoint security, IT service management – and our advancement in delivering process-based solutions to help simplify IT complexity and align IT to provide greater business value,” he added.

Commenting on the development Kaushik Shah, Country manager, LANDesk India said that the Thoma Bravo purchase of LANDesk will generate benefits for the company on both India and global level. “With increased investment in core business and resources for continued growth, we will be able to provide resources for innovation in core product areas like- LANDesk Management Suite, LANDesk Security Suite and LANDesk Service Desk. The acquisition will also provide a business model to fund growth and new options for M&A expansion. The acquisition will enable LANDesk to deliver focused innovation allowing the company to remain a market leader by focusing on its core products in each of its respective markets, without having to take into account the issues associated in working within a broad based conglomerate,” he said.
